Properties of Ingredients

Essentials

Lavender: Healing and calming, its cicatrisant properties help the skin to heal. Balances the body and emotions
Rose Geranium: An excellent moisturiser for skin, it keeps skin supple and decongested. It helps to balance hormones and uplift emotions. It has Deodorising, and healing properties.

Avocado (Persea americana)
It is easily absorbed into the skin and promotes cell regeneration, making it a good healer for damaged skin. It also helps aid in the treatment of skin conditions such as eczema, as well as sensitive skin. A natural antibacterial, avocado oil helps to eliminate acne and stubborn blemishes. It is good for all skin types, especially sensitive, inflamed, and dry. Perfect for prematurely aged, dry and dehydrated skin.

Baobab (Adansonia digitata)
Baobab oil contains vitamins A, E and F as well as omega 3, 6 and 9 and is highly moisturising without clogging the pores of the skin. It is beneficial for eczema, psoriasis, acne and sunburn. It is healing and nourishing for the skin and encourages fast regeneration of skin cells.
Beeswax (Cera Alba)

African beeswax is a high quality beeswax which is chemical free and thus excellent for use in cosmetics. Beeswax softens the skin and locks in moisture and has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-allergenic properties
Borage (Borago officinalis)
 Also known as starflower, borage oil is moisturising and reparative and thus a great anti-ageing oil. It is rich is macronutrients, vitamins, minerals and other plant compounds. It is full of beneficial fatty acids and is the richest natural source of GLA which is an important polyunsaturated omega-6 fat that benefits both skin and joints.

Calendula (Calendula officinalis)
Calendula oil is distilled from the bright red and yellow petals of the pot marigold flower.  It is a powerful anti-inflammatory oil and is effective in the healing of wounds, acne and inflamed skin conditions. It also has anti-septic, anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties

Cape Chestnut (Calodendrum capense)
Also known as Yangu, this oil is effective in replenishing the lipid barrier and helps to protect against sun damage.  It is high in antioxidants and is used to firm  the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao)
Cocao butter is very moisturising and is high in fatty acids which penetrate the skin well. It is rich in antioxidants including oleic acid, palmitic acid and stearic acid which are highly beneficial for the skin as they help to protect from free radicals. It slows down the development of wrinkles and can be used on all skin types.

Coconut and Fractionated Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera)
Coconut oil is highly emollient and moisturising for both skin and hair. It protects the skin by leaving a thin lipid layer on the skin. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties and has been shown to enhance the healing process.

Grape Seed (Vitis vinifera)
Grape seed oil protects, heals and beautifies the skin with its astringent and moisturising properties. It is rich in beta-carotene and vitamins D, C and E while also containing concentrations of fatty acids such as palmitic, stearic and linoleic acids which aid in minimising the appearance of both wrinkles and scars. It is light and easily absorbed into the skin. Grape seed oil is also rich in polyphenols which are anti-inflammatory antioxidants known to slow down the ageing process and prevent break outs.

Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis)
Jojoba isn't really an oil, but a liquid plant wax. It has a radically different chemical structure from any other oil. It's hypoallergenic, non-toxic and will never turn rancid like normal oils. Jojoba oil penetrates the human skin like no other known natural substance, regulating your skin's moisture balance and increasing your skin's elasticity by 35 per cent within half an hour. The structure of Jojoba is virtually identical to that of sebum secreted by the human sebaceous gland. Sebum is nature's way of lubricating and protecting the hair and skin. Jojoba does the same thing when age, pollutants, and the environment deplete sebum. Or if too much sebum clogs the pores or hair follicles, Jojoba oil dissolves excess sebum deposits, cleanses and restores the skin and hair's natural pH balance. Jojoba has endless uses. It can be applied to alleviate stretch marks, lighten and heal scars, treat acne and rashes, and is even used as a base for perfume. It is also beneficial to use after sunburn and prevents peeling.

Mango Butter (Mangifera indica)
Extracted from Mango tree kernels, Mango butter is high in anti-oxidants and has anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties. It protects the skin from UV rays and is excellent for all dry skin conditions.

Manketti (Schinziophyton rautenenii)
This nut oil comes from the Kalahari where the fruit is used as a skin cleanser and moisturiser. It is very high in eleostearic acid which helps to protect the skin against the sun. It also contains high quantities of vitamin E and thus helps to regenerate and restructure skin cells as well and to nourish and moisturise all skin types.

Marula (Sclerocarya birrea)
Marula Oil is ideal for dry, dehydrated, sensitive, and sun damaged skin. It is also excellent for stretch marks and scar tissue while providing nutrition to the skin. The oil softens and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles because of its powerful antioxidant content, and high concentrations of nutrients, minerals and essential fatty acids that protect the skin against environmental aggressors. The oil also reverses photo-ageing, boosts cellular activity, hydrates the skin at the deepest level and repairs the skin. It Olive (Olea europaea)
Olive oil is full of antioxidants which help to fight environmental damage from sun and pollution. It contains high levels of hydrating squalene which mimics the skin’s natural sebum. It is soothing and antibacterial and is quickly absorbed by the skin.

It contains exceptionally high levels of vitamin C, tocopherol (Vitamin E), tochotrienol, phenolic compounds, essential amino acids and flavinoids that help cells renew and resist damaging effects of the environment. Marula Oil is rich in essential fatty acids Omega 9-oleic and Omega 6-linoleic that deeply hydrate and reduce redness while nourishing, healing, moisturizing and improving skin elasticity. Marula Oil reduces trans-epidermal water loss and increases the smoothness of skin.

Rosehip (Rosa moschata)
Rosehip oil is a pressed seed oil extracted from the seeds of the wild rose bush. It contains vitamins A (in the form of beta carotene), C as well as E, in totally natural form. It has a marvellous balance of linoleic (44%) and Alpha Linoleic (34%) acids. This is one of the main reasons (i.e. very high fatty acid content), that it has fantastic results in the regeneration of skin cells and the repair of damaged tissues. In this regard, it has been shown to retard the signs of premature ageing and provide superb results in the treatment of scars, skin spots, as well as burns.  It counteracts the effects of dry skin caused by sun exposure and reduce wrinkles (as signs of premature ageing). Improves the colour and surface of attenuate scars, as well as avoiding the formation of keloid type scars. Scars left by acne or chicken pox also respond well. Provides significant relief from itching and inflammation associated with dry eczema.

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius)
Safflower oil is found to be ideal for improving the quality and texture of skin due its hight content of  linoleic acid (78%). Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid that cannot be synthesized by the human body and is required for ensuring the integrity of plasma membranes and for growth, reproduction, skin maintenance, and general body functioning. It  combines with the sebum in human skin to unclog the pores and reduce rashes and acne. It also facilitates the regeneration of new skin cells.Safflower oil acts as a lubricant that prevents water from leaving the ski thus locking in moisture. The oil softens the skin and improves both the texture and tone of the skin. This oil is also excellent for hair nourishment and growth.

Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii)
Shea butter is a superfood that comes from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea (Karite) tree. It is naturally rich in vitamins (A, E & F). Shea butter stimulates the production of collagen and circulation in the epidermis. It is anti-oxidant, moisturising and regenerative and also anti-inflammatory. Shea butter has an SPF factor of 6.  It helps protect the skin’s natural oils containing oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin and prevent dehydration.
