Michèle Evrard, pharmacist and skincare expert, worked for more than 20 years in the beauty industry.

After undergoing several knee surgeries and searching to heal her scars, she discovered the incredible scaring and regenerative virtues of Centella Asiatica.
 
This was the start, in 2003, of her studies on skin regeneration that led to her first formula, Baume 27.

Working with scientists, biochemist and lab technicians, she selected three purified, natural extracts of Centella Asiatica, [Madecassoside, Asiaticoside and Asiatic Acid] to create the CICA-MA2® Complex, which was the beginning of the brand creation, initiated by the iconic Baume 27. The Baume 27 formula extensive testing concluded to remarkable skin repairing and regeneration activity resulting in a restructuring of the skin tissue and reinforcement of the protective barrier.

About regeneration

“Regeneration defines all processes of reparation in which an organ or a tissue regains his integrity.

Our body has an incredible biological power. Unsuspectedly, most of our organs constantly renew themselves by eliminating old or dead cells, replacing them with new ones in order to stay in an optimal state of balance.

Our skin loses millions of cells a day that are permanently renewed identically thanks to the mechanism of cellular division.

A skin cell has a life span of 3 to 4 weeks, every 27 days or so, a new layer of skin cells is reformed.

That is why light scratches and small wounds heal spontaneously. Skin ageing can be considered as a form of wounding.

As we age, stem cells can no longer maintain a normal skin renewal, thickness, strength and functions. This is also a consequence of the many aggressions to our organism and our skin. Our environments, lifestyles, exposure to UV, pollution and stress psychological states are all factors of inflammation and damage our inner regenerating capacities.

Helping the skin cells to improve, maintain and stimulate their regenerating capacities via natural processes and ingredients is the mission I have set out with my skincare line C27.”

As a pharmacist, Michèle Evrard grew a passion for formulation, pharmacology and toxicology.

All three are key domains in making a good, safe and effective remedy. Her expertise in formulation technology provide highly potent  formulas that are “bio-mimetical”, in total affinity with the skin structure, and combine the best active ingredients to unique product  sensoriality and experience.

GREEN-TECH

All ingredients are carefully selected and comply with our clean & green ingredients criteria (sourcing, sustainability, safety and efficacy). We research and use the latest innovation in natural or biotech derived ingredients. We use a minimum of 85% natural vegetal origin ingredients.

Research and laboratory testing for each formula takes an average of two years to create effective, sensory and skin-friendly natural formulas. Only after this process, a formula will be validated.

All our products are tested for safety (toxicity, inocuity) with highest standards, after which they are tested for efficacy through clinical and consumer tests. Results and customers satisfaction are the final criteria before releasing a product on the market.

The “C27 Formulation & Ingredients Black List” eliminates ingredients that we judge unnecessary or unhealthful for the skin and the planet. Our formula criteria & standards are uncompromising.
